Leonid Space was founded by Scott Shambaugh to give spacecraft operators the tools they need to ensure their satellites can survive long-term in a turbulent space weather environment. Understanding satellite lifetimes is crucial to mission success and commerical viability of low Earth orbit, yet existing tools are woefully inadequate to this task.
Previously the Sr. Manager of ADCS & Propulsion at Capella Space, Scott led Capella's engineering response to Solar Cycle 25's unexpectedly high atmospheric drag - documented in their "Battle with the Sun". That experience revealed a critical information gap for satellite operators: real-time understanding of their mission health and remaining longevity.
Leonid exists to fill this need.
